Measuring guide

How to measure your hood for a replacement fur trim.

The most important measurement is the garment's attachment line. A careful measurement gives us a better starting point for a balanced fit and prevents confusion between fur length and fastening length.

What you need

  • Flexible measuring tape
  • The garment fully closed
  • Phone camera
  • A note with centimetres
  1. 1

    Lay the hood completely flat

Close the garment and smooth the hood or collar without stretching the fabric. The attachment edge should be easy to follow from one end to the other.

  2. 2

    Identify the exact attachment line

Measure where the replacement trim will actually attach—along the zipper, buttons, loops or seam—not around the outside edge of the fur.

  3. 3

    Use a flexible measuring tape

Follow every curve of the attachment line. Keep the tape flat against the garment and do not pull it tight enough to distort the hood.

  4. 4

    Record the result in centimetres

Write down the full attachment length and measure a second time. If the two results differ, repeat the measurement before ordering.

  5. 5

    Photograph the attachment details

Take one full view and a close-up of each end and fastening type. These images help us understand unusual constructions before production.

Common measuring mistakes

  • Measuring the visible fur instead of the attachment edge.
  • Using a rigid ruler across a curved hood.
  • Stretching elastic or fabric while measuring.
  • Rounding the result before checking it a second time.
