How to choose a replacement hood fur trim
A replacement trim needs to suit both your garment and the look you want. Start with the attachment and measurements, then compare materials and colours. A familiar brand name or a similar-looking hood alone is not enough to confirm a fit.
Check the hood before choosing the trim
Look at the edge where the existing trim attaches. Is it a zipper, buttons, loops or a sewn seam? Record the garment model and, if known, its year. Two jackets from the same brand can have different attachments, so compare the actual hood rather than relying on the label.
- Confirm that you are replacing the trim, not the entire hood.
- Check whether the original trim is detachable or sewn on.
- Photograph the full attachment edge and both ends before ordering.
Measure the fastening line, not the visible fur
The visible fur can extend beyond its backing. Measure along the line where the trim will attach, with the hood laid flat and the fabric relaxed. Repeat the measurement and record it in centimetres. Our measuring guide explains the process in detail.
- Follow curves with a flexible measuring tape.
- Do not stretch the hood or include loose hair in the measurement.
- Check the listed size or selected option on the product page.
Choose material and appearance separately from fit
Our catalogue includes real-fur and faux-fur trims. Compare the material stated on each product page, the colour and the visible fullness you prefer. A material name does not establish attachment compatibility. For natural fur, use the product description and photographs as a reference rather than expecting identical hair patterns on every piece.
- Use the listed product material instead of judging from colour alone.
- Compare the trim against the colour of your coat in daylight.
- Review the product photographs and all available options before adding it to your cart.
Review standard and custom-fit options
If your measurements or fastening details are unusual, contact us before ordering. Include the garment model, attachment length and fastening type. Select special customisation only when it is offered and appropriate for your order; choosing a custom size does not by itself confirm that an existing zipper will match.
- Keep your measurement and attachment details together.
- Check the selected options and any extra charge in the cart.
- Ask for a fit review if you cannot identify the attachment confidently.
