Before you order
Fur trim fit photos: what to send before ordering
For a fur trim fit review, send a full view of your hood edge and close-ups of both fastening ends. Add the attachment length, jacket model and any damage. If the old trim is missing, photographs of the remaining hood attachment give us a starting point. Keep the garment unaltered while its fit is being reviewed.
Show the whole hood and its attachment edge
Lay the jacket on a plain surface in good daylight and open the hood so the full fastening line is visible. Take one photograph of the jacket with the hood attached, then another closer view of the edge where the fur belongs. Include both ends in the closer view. Move loose fur or fabric aside gently so it does not hide the backing. Keep the camera above the garment, with the fastening in focus. A photograph of the coat worn on a person often hides part of the hood edge and is harder to use for a fit check.
- Use your own jacket rather than a retailer image or a similar model.
- Keep the full attachment in the frame; do not crop off its ends.
- Place the hood flat without pulling the fabric into a different shape.
- Retake a blurred or dark photograph before sending it.
Photograph the fastening closely
For a zipper, take separate close-ups of each end, the teeth and any readable markings on the slider or tape. Show which zipper half remains on the hood and where the slider sits. If you still have the old trim, photograph its zipper half separately with both ends visible. For buttons, loops or press studs, show the entire layout and a close-up of one fastening. Count them and measure their spacing. These details answer different questions from the overall attachment length: two edges can measure the same length while using different fastening arrangements.
- For zippers, show both ends and the tooth construction clearly.
- For buttons or loops, record the count and centre-to-centre spacing.
- For a sewn seam, show how the trim backing meets the hood fabric.
- Show missing parts or damaged fastenings in a separate close-up.
Include the attachment measurement
Use a flexible measuring tape along the fastening line with the fabric relaxed. Follow the curve from one attachment end to the other and record the result in centimetres. Repeat the measurement before sending it. You can take a photograph with the tape beside the edge, but include the written measurement too: a perspective angle can make the scale difficult to read. Measure the hood attachment, not the outer tips of the fur or the full hood opening unless that opening is the actual fastening line. Our measuring guide explains the method and common mistakes.
- Write the measurement and its unit in your message.
- State whether it came from the hood or from the old trim.
- Keep the tape and fabric relaxed instead of stretching them.
- Mention unequal button spacing or an asymmetric edge.
Prepare a fit review when the original trim is missing
A lost trim does not prevent you from recording the hood details. Show the remaining zipper half, buttons or loops and say that the original is unavailable. Include the jacket brand, model and year if you know them. A clear photo of the model label can help identify the garment; cover personal information and unrelated order labels. If there is no attachment on the hood, say so explicitly. Adding a trim to an unprepared edge may require garment work, so ask about the intended construction before ordering a detachable replacement.
- Explain whether the old trim is missing, damaged or still available.
- Identify the attachment present on the hood today.
- Provide the model or label details you can confirm.
- Avoid copying a measurement from another person's jacket.
Keep the details together in one message
Use this note when contacting us: jacket brand and model; year if known; original trim available or missing; fastening type; attachment length in centimetres; number and spacing of buttons or loops; any damaged parts; and the product or material you are considering. Attach the full hood view and the fastening close-ups. If you have measured twice and obtained different results, send both readings and describe where you placed the tape. Photos support a fit review but cannot establish every hidden construction detail, so wait for guidance if the attachment remains uncertain.
- Send the product link along with the garment details.
- Mention previous alterations to the hood or fastening.
- Ask how to provide the images if the contact form cannot attach files.
- Keep the jacket and original pieces intact until the fit is confirmed.
